Technology's Impact on Animation (assesment 3 part1)

Technology's Impact on Animation:

Animation has come from simple 2D  animations to more complex 3D  animations. The big 3D animation companies being Pixar and Dreamworks.
Advance in computer technology cuts the creating of the movie, tv show, character and story design down.
The advances in computer technology means that  3D animation has advanced as well, The number of programs and software  available for 3D animation is wide and has varieties of different ones, depending on your level of experience.

Examples of 3D software:

"3D Studio Max – This full-featured 3D modeling, animation, rendering and effects package has everything needed to create high quality content.
Maya – This software package is very popular among animators for 3D modeling, animation, rendering and effects.
Mode 302 – This advanced software package polygon, subdivision surface, modeling, sculpting, 3D painting, animation and rendering. It has been shown to be the.
E-Vue xStream within 7 – This software package provides a complete toolset for creating rich and realistic natural environments and their integration into any professional production line, including 3D Studio Max and Maya.
Blender – Students, amateurs and professionals can take advantage of this software package for modeling, rigging, animation, rendering, UV unwrapping, shading, physics and particles, image and composition, and real-time 3D creation / game"[2]

For computer games:

[1]"Animators for computer games and television are producing animation using photo realistic design with high detail. The quality of 3D animated computer software used in production of computer animation for making movies would take many years to accomplish if you are using a personal computer alone. To make the photo realistic design possible, powerful and high quality computer work stations are used. The workstations that are used to make computer animations are specialized to render the images for a soft realistic output of the cartoon."

In conclusion as software and computers develop and grow so does animation as  there has been a massive improvement from 2D  to 3D. 3D  being able to create amazing things such as detail in the hair eyes and skin. Pixar and dreamworks being the leaders of 3D animation producing award winning movies.

Issues With being Self Employed.

Self Employed Animator:

"We've looked at a lot of the pains that come with freelance animating, including the dreaded self-employment taxes that come with working as a freelancer under United States tax law. For some, registering as a corporation can be a way to save on expenses and limit personal liability in the event of any problems. But is it right for you to register as a corporation, or should you continue to file as self-employed?"

Issues:

  • Self employed taxes can be extremely high.
  • Costs money to file your registration.
  • Must have registered/bought for software. Otherwise less likely to get hired and can not claim it off off tax. Programs cant be pirated.
  • no sick day pay
  • no holiday pay
