Self Evaluation

Design Aims
My design aims were to make a prototype for a college app that should allow students to find out information needed on the go.
I have completed this by researching was they could do this and creating an easy to use app which allowed for a "stress free" way of finding the information needed.
Planning targets
The main planning targets was to complete research among other things in good time. Research was complete along with lo-fi prototypes before the break and finishing off evaluations and  creating the hi-fi prototype as soon as possible. these targets have all been met.
Testing
Testing went well  with the majority saying the prototype was good and stress free allowing them to find information they needed with an average of 4 seconds to find what they needed.I think this went better than expected as I felt the design was a little bit to busy but it seemed that giving the user more than one way of navigating around the app seemed to make things a lot easier than one way of navigating.
Process
The process I have gone through was a large amount of research looking at useful and fun apps for inspiration. I also looked through app types deciding that a Hybrid app was the way forward as some information was stored onto the app and other things like Bus timetables were stored on the bus site. This would make the app use up less memory when installed. The colour swatches used were colours from everyday things and the college colours, this gave me a wide range to choose from. Testing was essential to finding faults in the  prototype and finding what colours would suite the target group, testing allowed me to discover that giving more than one way to navigate the site made it easier for people to use and made finding information hassle free. I feel from this I managed to go through the process quite easily once I was able to gather some visual examples to set me off.
Problems
problems encountered was that having one way to navigate the site caused problems for some so creating more ways made it much easier. Loading time was something I was concerned about this was countered by creating a few constants and allowing for two things to change. This would cut loading time down.
Adapatbility
Changes made were adding more than one way to navigate through the app and making two things change on the app which would cut down loading time.

What I learnt:
I feel I  have learnt the process to creating  a basis for an app. I would of liked to develop the app fully but as I do not know how to create and app this will not be done, what I would do differently is create a set target group of people to test making it easier to get people who would be willing to test the prototype out.

Quick Evaluation

For colour schemes the blue beach swatch was the most popular, I took this into consideration and used a similar lighter colour for the prototype. I  got the evaluation of  the lo-fi prototype this was averaging on a 5/5 basis  from the group who i got to evaluate it. Once this was done I move the prototype into an interactive stage where it took an average of 4 seconds for target group to complete the task given, all seemed to remember how to f=complete their task and overall the majority said it was easy enough to use.
