Jobs:
how many people are employed in the industry?
500,000 employed (directly and indirectly)

There is indication that there is growth in this industry though finding information about it is difficult

Employment:

Business tourism is year-round, peaking in Spring and Autumn but still with high levels of
activity in the Summer and Winter months, thus sustaining permanent, full-time
employment. It is estimated that the sector nationally employs around 530,000 people both
directly and indirectly

Jobs:


Conference and Publicity Co-ordinator: Are you a graduate with experience of organising
major high-profile conferences and publicity events? Do you have proven knowledge of media
and public relations? Have you at least two years’ experience of project management and
budgetary control? If you fit this description, you could be responsible for the planning,
marketing and co-ordination of events, an annual conference and exhibition and public
relations for ...(a professional medical association). You will lead a small dynamic team and,
in addition to the stated skills, will be able to prioritise and juggle tasks and will have excellent
oral, written, presentation, negotiation and decision-making skills. The post is likely to attract
candidates who are computer literate, are ambitious, have established media contacts and enjoy
UK travel.
Average salary:  £20,992


Marketing Assistant - Conferences, Events and Promotions (local authority conference
office): As a Marketing Assistant in a small team, you will be ideas-oriented and have sound
organisational ability. A practical person, with exceptional communication skills, you will be
keen to become fully involved in planning, co-ordinating and implementing all factors of a
project and work well in a team. You will need at least two years’ marketing experience in order
to meet the level of responsibility required, and previous involvement in events organisation or
conference marketing would be an asset. A tourism or marketing qualification is not essential,
but would be an advantage.
Average salary:   £18,000

Event Industry

What is an Event?
An event can be defined as any public gathering of people for a purpose. The events industry can be divided into three main sectors, based along content lines:
  • Sport
  • Meetings/Conference/Expos (Business)
  • Cultural /Arts/Music
Events are staged both for profit and non-profit, by business, government or community. Events can be held for commercial, celebratory, entertainment or specific reasons and or causes.
Events include:
Corporate/Business: Conferences, seminars, workshops, AGMs, retreats, incentives, professional development, sponsored events, galas, launches, celebrations, recreation, symposiums.
Cultural Events: Music, theatre, opera, performance, visual arts multicultural, local community, celebration, religious.
Professional Associations: Industry specific trade conferences and trade shows, professional development, awards nights, celebrations, launches.
Media/Advertising: Marketing events, promotional activity, launches, awards, roadshows, special events, sponsored events
Community/NGOs/Associations: Fundraising, street fairs, awareness building, charity, campaigns, celebrations, ‘Days Of’, Tourism, Ag Shows, Field Days, and Air Shows.
Education/Uni/Schools: On campus events, festivals, launches, awards, open days, celebrations, openings.
Special Interest Groups (sports, outdoors, religion): Scouting jamborees, World Youth Day, racing, international sports events, papal visits, public events and celebration, ticker tape parades, all sports matches/competitions, tourism.

Indoor: Stadium/arenas, theatre, venue, hotel, and purpose built halls/centres/conference halls, marquees, boats, boardrooms, places of interest (church, theme park, zoo, heritage building, etc)
Outdoor: Stadium/arenas, sporting field, park, beach, greenfield (farm), greenfield (national park), desert, beach, on water.

This is the drawings or shields that I used in the animation, I  drew these in paint and then worked on them in photoshop,  The shields are in order of older to  what  I think the future shield will look like. (Roman shield, Police riot shield, Energy shield (halo reference)
